My name is Jennie and I am a work at home who really wants to work from home and now I am really doing it! I have 2 businesses now and I thought I would share a little about what I have done and how I have succeeded!
First, I will tell you, I am a little wacky! I love children, love to act, be creative, and especially be silly so I decided to start my own Children’s Birthday Party business-SillyDilly the Clown Children’s Birthday Parties & Singing Telegrams. I live in Savannah, Georgia and we don’t have a lot of services here that offer entertainment for children. We do have a lot of places you can go for parties, but not an actual character that comes out for children’s parties.
I worked for a large company in Atlanta a few years ago and really enjoyed working with children and doing face painting, balloon animals, magic, etc. So, about 2 years ago, I started my own business here in Savannah and it has been hard work, but an amazing experience! I go out to parties and events and do a silly magic show, do animal balloons for all the kids, goody bags, storytelling, and singing and dancing.
The next thing that I added to my business is Singing Telegrams. They have been fantastic! I go out and surprise or embarrass people at work, home, a big party as a big, furry, yellow chicken! It has been hilarious! I love the look on the person’s face when I walk in to surprise them- it’s priceless!
The newest thing I am working on now as far as my parties go is Princess Parties. I am having a new costume being handmade as a Princess. I want to give moms and little girls a very special party that involves the guests attending to dress up as their favorite storybook princess or prince…gonna be lots of fun!
How do I advertise? Lots of work! I go out and distribute flyers all over the place, I advertise in the phonebook because that’s reliable. Both of these help me book at least 4-5 parties per weekend and plenty of telegrams throughout the week. The other thing that I did is I built a website through a company that allows you to do it yourself.
It’s not always easy juggling the kids back and forth between babysitters, the ymca and everything else but somehow you get it done. I actually think that working from home is by far harder than being outside of the home because you are trying to do everything else in-between!
I also started another business from home booking travel. I need extra income because of course with gas prices so high, and more bills adding on, I need some extra cash.
I have been trying to find something that I enjoy, something that involves me helping people, and most of all from home!!! It’s been quite a challenge finding this perfect job! So for all you stay at home moms, hope is on the way!
I decided to look into booking travel from home. It's been the best decision I have made aside from the Children's party business. It's a wonderful source of extra income and I really enjoy it. I have learned so much about other countries, other cities, exotic hideaways, and so much more! The best part about my decision is that I am a respresentative for a company that has great deals on all of their travel! Therefore, I am offering great prices to all of my clients! It has been worth all of my efforts to learn something new, be good at it, and enjoy a new career!

I would like to help someone else succeed and still have their children with them at home! My biggest thing was not having my children in full-time daycare. As the travel business gets busier, I am looking into putting my 2 yr old who will soon be 3 into a half day program that has a little curriculum--so that way I can do travel marketing in the mornings, do errands and enjoy my children in the afternoon, and then relax in the evenings. Wait a minute! I forgot-moms don’t relax right? We are always doing laundry and other things when we have down time! Ha ha! Life is good when you can do what you want to do, make money, be with your children, and be happy!
